On September 21, the United Nations International Day of Peace, Country Village Montessori School joined voices with other Montessori Schools around the world to show their support for World Peace. The song, Light a Candle for Peace, was song continually for 24 hours around the world beginning in New Zealand and ending in the Hawaiian Islands.

The International Day of Peace was initially established by a United Nation resolution in 1981 to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly in September. It is a day when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote Peace. In 2001the resolution was strengthened and September the 21 was made the official date for the annual day of peace.

The parents and children of Country Village Montessori School began singing at 11.08 and then they flew the Dove of Peace (made by students last year). The day continued with crafts, stories and discussions about Peace and peacemakers. The elementary students also wrote about what Peace means to them.
